Persons who have found an artifact and want to learn more about it can ask an expert when Whiterock Conservancy hosts the third annual Archaeological Roadshow Saturday, Feb. 25.
Experts will help those who attend learn how old their artifact is, where it came from, how it functioned, and what the people who used it were like.
The Archaeological Roadshow is slated for 1 to 3 pm at the But Oak Visitors’ Center, 1436 Highway 141 on the east edge of Coon Rapids.
Those without artifacts are invited from 3 to 4 pm as Joe Artz, senior geoarchaeologist at EarthView Environmental Inc, and Cherie Haury-Artz, outreach educator for the office of the state archaeologist, will discuss some of the more interesting artifacts brought to the roadshow as well as items found at a recent dig near the Middle Raccoon River.
“Come for a fun afternoon to learn more about your items and enjoy meeting with others interested in archaeology,” a Whiterock Conservancy spokesperson said.
